Friends of St. Helen’s

The Friends of St Helen’s School Association was first formed in 1995. The association is made up of the governors and staff of the school, parents of pupils and members of St Helen’s Church, Wheathampstead. Friends is a registered charity, the main purpose of which is to raise funds for the school and provide educational support for the children. It also acts as a useful network for parents.

All parents automatically become members and are eligible each year for election onto a lively and energetic committee which plans the programme for the year ahead. There is always a full and interesting programme of events and activities including a summer fair, quiz nights, dances, childrens’ discos and cake sales.

Friends works closely with the head teacher, staff and the governing body in ensuring that the money they raise meets the needs of the school and furthers the education of its pupils.

In the past Friends has raised funds to help build the school library, provide outdoor agility apparatus for the school field and they have helped raise money to enable the governors to build and equip the ICT room and the new outdoor learning area for reception children.

Its latest achievement is in significantly contributing towards the current rebuilding of the school.
