Loving Learning, Loving God, Loving Our Neighbour

School Council

Mrs Rawcliffe runs our School Council. One girl and one boy are elected from their class (Year 2 upwards) to represent the school. All representatives serve for one year.

We meet several times each term during lunchtime to discuss development ideas, charities to support and ideas for fundraising activities. Suggestions from the class are collected in preparation for the School Council meetings. The representatives discuss their class suggestions and then feed back to their class what was discussed in the meeting. A volunteer will be chosen to take minutes of each meeting.

Representatives may also be asked to assist staff when people visit the school. For example, they may be involved in asking candidates questions during the recruitment of new staff.

Our charity for this year is:-

Kimbilio is a project which has been running in the DR Congo for 10 years. It supports some of the estimated 15,000 street children in Lubumbashi, aiming to reintegrate them back into their families where possible. In July 2019, Rev Richard Banham and Linda Thomas from St Helen’s were part of a 14 strong UK team which visited to see the work of the charity and join in the 10th anniversary celebrations.

For more information see the Kimbilio Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/kimbilio/ or the Congo Children’s Trust website https://congochildrentrust.org/kimbilio-project/

Ayala Brooks

Last year we raised an incredible £3000 for Ayla so she can have a specially adapted bathroom in her family home.
