Community

Community is one of our 6 core values and is at the heart of “loving our neighbour”. We think of ourselves as integral to our village and church communities and strive to show and share God’s love through our outreach and community-based activities.

Throughout the academic year we attend and host activities involving members of the local community such as Remembrance Parade, Wheathampstead Lights Up, Rotary Carol Concert, St Helen’s Spring Fair, Village Day Parade, Volunteers breakfast and Wheathampstead Sustainability Festival, to name a few.

We encourage members of our local community to visit the school and volunteer to support reading, help with clubs, ground maintenance parties and also speak to the children about various issues and subjects.

In addition, we collect food for St Alban’s Foodbank, provide support for children and families by making second hand uniform available, signpost to external agencies for families needing further support and attend activities and events within the Harpenden and St Albans Schools’ Networks,

School community Hub:

Our school community hub is located in room 9. It  has a variety of uses, such as our school foodbank, bookswap and our uniform hub. If you ever need school uniform please pop in - it is important to us that no pupil or family should ever be concerned that the cost of school clothing is an issue.

Community events:

As a school, we are proud of how much we are part of village life, whether that is having a float at Village day; our relationship with St Helen's Church; the village foodbank; working with the library; students in for work experience; inviting community members in for school events and to work with our children.
